PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT / SURGICAL General Summary Our client hospital located in New London, CT., is seeking a full-time Surgical PA. The Physician Assistant performs a variety of duties in the hospital and office setting in the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients providing quality patient care and serves as a liaison between patient and physician when necessary. The PA also functions as a first assistant to the surgeon in the operating room. The Physician Assistant will work with the supervision of attending surgeons. Responsibilities Provides first and second assisting in general surgery and surgical subspecialties and demonstrates proficiency in a variety of surgical techniques, depending on surgical specialty assigned, which includes but is not limited to knot tying, suturing, skin closure, sterile technique, maintaining exposure of the surgical site, anticipating surgeon needs. Provides initial and ongoing assessment of patients’ medical, physical, and psychological status, including: conducts, writes, dictates, or records electronically, complete yet concise history and physical examinations. Develops treatment plans to be approved by the supervising physician. Performs rounds and records progress notes on pre/post-operative patients. Implements physician-directed treatment plans including writing or phoning orders for medications, treatments, tests, IV fluids, etc. and interpret normal and abnormal findings. Surgical Physician Assistan

Enloe Medical Center is a 298-bed, level II trauma center located in the vibrant Northern Californian city of Chico. Qualifications: POSITION SUMMARY: The Physician Assistant, (PA), under the direction of the Medical Director and the onsite Supervising Physician provides health care services. The PA provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative healthcare service, as delegated by a physician. The PA will report to the Nurse Manager/Director of the department for all employee/employer issues regarding departmental and organizational operations. The PA consistently demonstrates the core values of Enloe Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Graduate of a PA educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission (ARC) on Education for Physician Assistants (or its predecessor agencies) OR current certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Recent experience appropriate to the clinical area where practice will occur. New graduates will be considered. Desired: One year California Health, Disability Program (CHDP) experience preferred: ECHC, LMFHC Bilingual in Spanish desirable One-year oncology experience.
