Physician Assistant, Urology – Robotic Surgery

Title: Physician Assistant, Urology – Robotic Surgery Location: Mon Health Medical Center – Morgantown, West Virginia Mon Health Medical Center is looking for a full-time surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to assist in urological surgical cases, with a focus on robotic surgery. The Physician Assistant would be to first assist in all surgical procedures performed by the surgeon. This includes ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are present and that patient is prepped and draped according to the surgeon’s guidelines. The PA will receive training and should become very familiar with the robot, its parts and equipment, and learn basic troubleshooting. The PA would also be responsible for post-operative care such as writing orders, visiting patients on the floor, dressing and drain care, writing prescriptions, completing documentations, and any other tasks as deemed necessary by the surgeon. During non-operative days, the PA would see patients in the clinic and discuss care plans with the physician. The PA should be comfortable seeing patients by themselves and documenting the patient encounter as deemed appropriate by the supervising physician. Prior experience in a urology office or operating room is a plus. Basic exposure to laparoscopic or robotic surgery is also favorable but not required. The PA would initially work under direct supervision and complete educational material as deemed necessary by the surgeon. As he/she becomes more comfortable with the practice and the field of urology, the PA would work more independently.
